SIR. MATTHEW NATHAN APPOINTED. (Australian and N.Z. Cable.) (Received July 13, 8 a.m.) BRISBANE, tnie day. Libutenant-Colonel Matthew Nathan has boon appointed Governor of Queensland, . Sir Matthew Nathan, K.C.M.G., has been chairman of the Board of Inland Revenue siuoe 1911, and is a member of tile Pacific Cable Board. He served in the Nilie expedition in 1885, and in the L'ulhal (Burnja) .in-1889. He administered the Govarnmcrffc of Sierra Leone in 1899, was Governor of the Gold Coast from 1900 to 1903, Governor of Hong-kong from 1903 to 1907, and Governor of Natal from 1907 to 1909; and was Secretary to the Post Office from 1909 to 1911.
