SATURDAY

The Legislative Council met at 11 a.m., and immediately adjourned to 2.30 p.m. I BILLS APPROVED. j On resinning the Council approved to amendments brought down by Governor-General message in the Housing and Post and Telegraph Amendment Bills ARCHITECTS BILL. The Institute of Architects Amendment Bill was read a third time. ELECTRIC POWER BILL. The Electric Power Boards Amendment Bill, providing for Boards to hold office for three years, was introduced, and passed through all stages. PILLS PASSED. Other Bills passed with minor or with no amendments were the Laud Laws Amendment, arid the Government Railways Amendment Bills; and the following local Bills-.—Victory Park, Wellington City Milk Supply, AY/hangarei Habour Board Vesting arid Empowering, Palmerston North Abattoir, and Gisborne Harbour Board Bills. The Council adjourned at 4.20 p.m. till 10.30 a.m. on Monday. The Legislative Council met at 10.30

HAAVKE'S BAY RIVERS BILL.

A message from the House of Representatives stated that the amendment made by the Council in the Hawke's Bay Rivers Bill had been disagreed with, the "House maintaining that the Hawke-'s Bay Rivers Board should not hove power to raise a loan without a poll of ratepayers. The Hons. J. B. Gow, E. W. Alison, and W. E'arnshaw were appointed managers to attend a conference on the point at issue. BILLS READ. The Native Washing Up Bill and the Undesirable Immigrants Exclusion Bill were received from the House of Representatives, and were read a first time. The Council adjourned at 11.15 a.m. until 2.30 p.m.

In the Shearers' Accommodation Bill the amendments madj were not agreed with. NATIVE MATTERS. The Native Land Amendment and the Native Land Claims Ad.justmcu;'; Bills passed all stages, as also did the Undesirable Immigrants Exclusion Bill. OTHER BILLS PASSED. The following Bills were also passed: Industrial and Provident Societies Amendment, Hospitals and Charitable Institutions, and Divorce and Matrimonial Causes Amendment Bills.
