FIRE AT TAURANGA
RAILWAY WORKSHOP CONSUMED BLOW TO EAST COAST BAILWAY (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) TAURANGA, thi« day. The Public Works railway workshop at Mount Maungunui was totally destroyed by fire at three o'clock this morning. No means were at hand for fighting the outbreak, and tho budding, consisting of wood and iron, was quickly destroyed, together with much valuable machinery. The outbreak was apparently in tho vicinity of the boiler. The engineer is absent, and tho valuo of the shop and mEchir.ery cannot be ascertained, but it must amount to several thousand pounds. The loss is bound to have an effect (on thp construction of this portion of the liast Coast railway.
