STEAMER ON FIRE
IGNITION OF BENZINE FUMES, i By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AVANGANUI, this day. An outbreak of lire occurred on the steamer Waitangi, at Patea. on Tuesday evening, caused by fumes fiom leaking hontfno tins igniting when a naked light was used near the hold. The flames rose to a great height, but were socn ovorcome by prompt action. Four men in tho hold had a narrow escape from injury.
