COUNTY COUNCIL ELECTIONS
THE NOMINATIONS. Nominations for election as representatives on County Councils closed at noon to-day. In this district, with two exceptions, one in each county, so little interest was taken by the electors that there will be elections in only two ridings. One riding in the Wanganui couity failed to produce a nomination and in another the required numoer was one short. • WAITOTARA COUNTY. In this county all the retiring members, with the exception of Cr. K. H. Cave, have sought re-election. In only one riding will there be an election in Waltotara, where four candidates have been nominated for three seats. The following are the nominations:— Westmere Riding, two representatives required;-—Farley R., Russell G. S. Tokoraaru Riding, two required: Burnet J. H., Jones L. T. Brunswick Riding, two required; Ross D„ Smith C. E. Waitotara Riding, three required; Handley 8- G., Morrison W., Russell'C. G., Collins W. A. Mr W. Ritchie was re-elected unopposed the county's representative on the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board. WANGANUI COUNTY. In only one riding of this county was there much Interest displayed in the nominations. That exception was Maugawhero where there were eight nominations for three seats. In the other ridings the retiring members were re-elected unopposed except in the Purua, from where no nominations were received, and the required number for Mangamabu was one short. Cr Collier did not seek, re-election. The following were nominated;Mangawhero Riding, three required: Whiteman B. H., Broderick W. E„ Neilson R., Allen F, H„ Robinson A,, Ross R., and Hamilton H. Messrs Neilson, Allen and Robinson were the retiring members. Kaitoke. —Mr D. Mackintosh was re-elected unopposedKaukatea.—Mr A. Mackintosh was also elected unopposed. Upper Wangaehu.—The (retiring representative, Mr J. Kennedy, was elected unopposed. Morekah, —This was a new riding and its first representative will be Mr Gregor McGregor, who has been re-elected unopposed. Mangamabu, two required.—-The only nomination received was from A. H. Collins. v Purua—No nomination was received. PATEA COUNTY. Better nominations were received in the Patea County and these were as under; — Waverley Riding, two required.— Elmslie, A. L., McDonald F.
