MEETING OF WANGANUI BRANCH. ' A meeting of the Wanganui branch of the N.Z. Farmers’ Union was held today, Mr W. B. Cave presiding. EXECUTIVE.—Messrs H. A. Euscoe and J. R. Franklin were elected members of the branch executive. , SHORTAGE OF LABOUR.—A request for information regarding the supply of labour for farm work was received from the head office of the Union. Members anentioned that the supply varied in different districts, some had no difficulty in obtaining labour, but in others the reverse was the case.—The request was referred to the chairman and secretary to reply to, TESTIMONIAL.—It was decided to ask each member of the branch to contribute 2s 6d towards the cost of the testimonial proposed to bo presented to Sir Jas. Wilson upon his retirement from active work on behalf of the Union. ROUND TABLE CONFERENCE.— The remit from the sub-provincial executive: “That the round table confercnee of all branches of labour and Farmers’ Union employers of labour, as adopted by the Farmers’ Conference held at Feilding, be furthered without delay/' was supported. RIFLE CLUB.—The Mangamahti members of Fordell branch have form* ed a rifle club. Members have promised trophies for a Farmers' Union competition, and the suggestion has been made that each branch should form a dub, with the object of holding an annual competition locally. Mr Franklyn suggested holding the competition on tho day of tho local Rifle Association.
