TT is hereby notified for public information that it is proposed to make inquiries during the recess with a view to revising the Customs Tariff during the session of 1921. All persons making contracts for the delivery of imported goods, either subject to duty or which may become subject to duty, should protect themselves either/ (1) by introducing therein a clause governing possible change of duty, or (2) by giving immediate notice where contracts are already in force, or. where there are running contracts, that, in the event of-alteration of .the duty, the provisions of Section 130 of tho Customs Act, ”1913, must apply. 1 » It is to amend this Section tq cover alteration not only in the liability of goods to duty the rate of duty, but also in the amount of duty. WANGANUI BOROUGH COUNCIL. ■\T OTTCE is hereby given that at a Special Meeting of tho Wanganui Borough Council, duly convened and held at the Council Chambers, St. Hill Street. Wanganui, on the 12th day of October, 1920, the following resolution {intended to operate as - a Special Order) was duly passed;— That the Wanganui Borough Council doth hereby, in exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the provisi'ins of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 191u, the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, the Municipal Corporations. Amendment Act, 1913, and in exercise of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, resolve by special order: First.—To raise a Special Loan of and to borrow the sum of twenty-five thousand pounds (.£25,000) for the purpose of erecting on land within the Borough, appropriated by the Council for that purpose, for occupation by workers employed or resident in the Borough thirty (30) separate buildings in brick, concrete, or other durable material for workers’ dwellings,' pursuant to the provisions in that behalf contained in Section 325, Sub-section 2, of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, and Section 53 of the Municipal Corporations Amendment Act, 1913. Secondly. That the said special loan of. twenty-five thousand pounds (£25,000) to be raised shall be for the term of - thirty-six and one-half ; (36J) years, repayable in manner as provided by the State Advances Act, 1913. Thirdly.—That the interest on the sa -fl Special Loan of twenty-five thousand pounds (£25,000) shall be at the rate and repayable in manner as provided, by the State Advances Act, 1913. Fourthly.—That the security for the repayment of the said Special Loan of twenty-five-thousand pounds (£25,000), in manner as provided by the State : Advances Act, 1913, shall be an annually recurring special rate of twopence (2d) in the pound upon the annual value ox all rateable property within the Borough of Wanganui, the boundaries whereof are defined in the New Zealand Garutte of the 19th day of December, 1912, number 92, at page 3618. Fifthly.—That the Council appropriate and pledge as security for the repayment of the said loan of twenty-five thousand pounds (£25,000) and the interest thereon by the periodical payments,. as required 'by the State Advances Act,. 1913, and the charges and expenses incidental to or connected therewith,, the annually recurring ! special rate of twopence (2d) in the pound-on the annual value of all ratei able, property within the area aforesaid., Sixthly.—That the first year’s bitterest on the loan and the cost of raisi ing the loan be paid out of the loan-. And notice is hereby further, given that the above resolution will be subi mitted for confirmation- at an ordinary l meeting of the Council to be held on Tuesday, - the 9th day of November, 1920, at 7.30 o’clock p.m., at the said I Council Chambers, St. Hill Street, Wanganui.
