(Per United Press Association..) WELLINGTON, Nov. If. The Council of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce today passed a resolution that the retail price of butter should be 2/4 for giving'a fair return for handling the commodity. In the course of the discussion the principle of paying producers a subsidy from the Consolidated Fund in order to keep down the price to local consumers wascondemned as being unsound in principle. ’' The president (Mr M. A. Carr 5 held that the producers should get what price they could for their produce, but urged that the time’had arrived , when the producers should pay for the grading of produce.
