IMPORTANT DEVELOPMENTS EXPECTED. ■— « LONDON, July 26. Mr Lloyd George’s Irish pronouncement is much discussed in political circles. It is generally felt that the position cannot remain stationary. Important developments are presaged. The Times points out that Mr Lloyd George is unable to maintain ms present attitude indefinitely. The Irish question moves on relentlessly. The Sinn Fein Republic is now dc facto. Ulster has commenced the opening skirmishes of a religious war. The days of temporising are numbered. The Times thinks the south of Ireland would ultimately accept a full measure of Dominion Homo Rule, but this would spell disaster to Ulster. The Times is opposed to naked partition, but thinks the case calls for special treatment in view of the growing embitterment. Prompt statesmanship must end the present intolerable situation. MORE BLOODSHED. LONDON, July 26. Bomlp attacks were made on a number of coastguard stations in County Cork. Two officers were killed. Three Limerick police recruits were seriously wounded by shots from ten armed men. A military motor-car, after a breakdown in Cork, was burned. Troops arrived with a tank and fired on tho crowd, wounding several civilians.
