Eloquence was the order of the evening, and orators were all in a happy vein. What had been done in the past year was talked over, the glorious victory at Christchurch when London’s doughty team brought home the Blue Ribbon of the Bowling World, and what was going to be done in the coming season, was all brought forward in speeches worthy of a place in Hansard. The following officers were elected:—President, Geo. Spriggens; vice-president, R. G. McNiven; hon. secretary, A. Nisbet Smith; hon. treasurer, D. McFarlane; hon. auditors, W. Rankin, and W. Ridd; committee, Messrs Addenbrooke, Beswick, Crawford, Foster, Harden, Mewburn, McAneny, Price, Doig Scott. Sixteen new members were brought forward, and if one can believe Dame Rumour, more than double that number are just waiting to get their names down. Hearty good wishes and congratulations to the retiring president and vice-president brought a splendid and enthusiastic gathering to a close. RAPANUI CLUB. „ ANNUAL MEETING.
