IMLAY CUP. The Imlay Cup competition was contested on Saturday, when more than average interest was taken in the play. Two players in S. Powdrell (4) and F. S. Parkes (2), succeeded in finishing all square, and this pair will have to play off for the Imlay Cup. G. Saunders (scr.) and D. Murchie (14), came next, each being I down The former did a steady round of 81. D. Meldrum (1) was close up with 2 down, while A. Robinson (10), and Richardson (22) finished 4 and 5 down respectively. CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP. The first game in the Club Championship was played on Saturday afternoon,,, when E. H. Bemau beat W. A. J. Gibson by 3 up and 3 to play. Gibson was lup at the turn, and the game was all square at the 13 th. Here Bernau broke into his best canter, and winning the next three holes took the game by 3 and 9 ' It is a coincidence that the luck of the draw bas placed three scratch men together in the championship tournament. G. Saunders and J. Goss have to meet each other in the first round, while the winner of this game will have to bump into J. Harold. It is not. often so many scratch men are eliminated in the opening rounds. With the Club Championship tournament and the Imlay Cup tournament both going at tl*e same time, Wanganui golfers should have plenty to interest them and keep them in form for the next few weeks.
