Sir, —Mr G. D. Stone, in his annual report, mentions that the trams have been supplied during the year with 1031 tons of coke and 2,592,000 feet gas was greatly reduced prices. This completely confirms what I stated in my letter in your issue of some few days ago, that iu order to bolster uj> the trams and show a surplus on paper the ratepayers, not the users of the trams, are making up the deficiency. W... Mr Stone tell ns the actual price the trams are paying for both coke and gas? When the new Mayor, who, it is hoped, will be an experienced business man, is elected, and looks into municipal affairs, I predict ratepayers will get a shock.—Yours, etc., RATEPAYER.
