DROUGHT IN AUSTRALIA

OUTLOOK OMINOUS. SYDNEY, May 3. Reports from the stricken back country continue dolorous. Over wide grazing areas stock are starving, dying, or being removed to districts where feed is available. The outlook for the winter is regarded as ominous. The position is one of the worst ever experienced by stock owners.

DROUGHT IN QUEENSLAND. BRISBANE, April 30. At Warwick the record-breaking drought still continues. Creeks which have always been regarded as permanent are now giving out, and it is difficult to secure agistment for stock. The outlook for cattle during the winter is very grave, though the sheep are in good condition. Never in the history of Warwick was there such a shortage of stored fodder. The drought having exhausted stocks, farmers are now anxiously awaiting the rain in order to prepare for the wheat crops, which for three years have been a failure.
