TABANAKI TO 11 1-INAMENT, Sectional play in the Taranaki tournament, wilid’ commenced at Now Plymouth on Monday, was concluded yesterday, ‘with, the result that all rinks -winning six games were included in tins semi-finals, to be started this morning. The sectional winners were:

A—Bartlett (Fib.roy) 6, Maoon (Pihama) 6.

B—Flower (Gonvillo), 7. C—Jolly (Palmerston) 6. D—Moffat; (St. John's), Jury (I'iizroy), Castles (Eltliam) 6 each. E—McNeill (ffllzroy) 7, Elliott (Patca) 6, McAnony (Wanganui) 6. F—Ford (Waitara) 8, Lut.com be (Now Plymouth) 6. G—Barry (Eltliam) S, Foy (Oawera) 7. In tho play off between. tho section winners, each team, when it has been I'voaton. twice, drops out of tho competition.

Following is the position of the other Wanganui rinks at tho tournament: London (Wanganui), hj wins, 3 losses; liodson (St. John's). Green (St. John’s), Bowatcr (Gonvill-e), Scrivener (St. John’s), 4—4; Nixon (Castlcoliff) 3—5; Jack (St. John's), I—7. McGori'ery and Taylor (Waverley) Scored 4 wins and 4 losses, and Sutcliffe (Marton) 3—5. Tho biggest win during the sectional play was Smart’s (New Plymouth) rink over Stout’s (Taihape), the visitors scoring hut 6 to their opjxwieiits’ 35, though in every other game in their section tho Taihajie rink fought well. It is not a iittlo curious that in the previous game Smart only scored 11 to his op)>oiient,'s 27. Tho surprises and unexpected happenings in “ye game and playe’’ of bowls constitute some of its many attractions. Two Wanganui teams were not a little surprised on Tuesday in having the tables turned against (hem after having a substantial load in their respective, games. Playing against Elliott (Patoa), Bowatcr (GonvUle) liad a lead of 17—3, and Nixon (Castlecliff) led Sole (West End) by tho same number of points. After tea the Oonvilie, team did not score, tho game ending 17—25, and Nixon’s rink was beaten 22—21.
