ANOTHER CONSTABLE KILLED

LONDON, January 26,
Fifty men made a desperate attempt to capture the police barracks at Bal-lino-lass. A constable opened the dooi in response to a knock, and a revolver bullet from the opposite side of the street lodged in his spine. The victim died. After an exchange of shots the raiders were dispersed, and seven arrested.
MR HENDERSON’S FEARS

Mr Henderson, speaking at Dublin, said that unless the Irish problem was speedily solved, he gravely feared that the question would settle itself on unconstitutional lines.

LONDON, January 27
The Daily News states that two thousand rifles were smuggled ashore on the County Clare coast recently, and successfully distributed. The authorities have failed to trace the weapons. The position in Clare is regarded as serious.

The Sinn Feiners’ Republican loan realised a million and a half in Ireland and four and a half millions in America.
