CONFERRING DEGREES.

PUBLIC CEREMONIES TO BE REVISED. (Per United Press Association.) DUNEDIN, January 27. The University Senate adopted an address of congratulation to the Otago University on attaining its jubilee. Dr. Cameron mtfved: “That in view of the Jubilee Celebrations of Otago University, the Senate resolve that degrees gained by students of Otago University may be conferred in public at Dunedin in 1920.”

There was some opposition by speakers to the revival of public functions, the Chancellor saying that the one great public opportunity of bringing University and community into touch had been destroyed by the students. Wellington and Canterbury had been the worst. The motion was carried.
