QUIEN NOT NURSE CAYELLS
BETRAYER,
Australian and N.Z. Cable AssociationReceived January 27. 2.10 p.m. PAIIIS. January 26. There was a sensation during the retrial of Quien, which was held owing to the informality of the earlier courtmartial.
Quien earnestly protested that he was innocent of betraying Nurse Caveli. The Public Prosecutor unexpectedly cut short his protestations by saying—“Quien, for one at any rate, is telling the truth. We have* documents showing that he is not the men who denounced the gallant British nurse.”
Quien in a voice broken with emotion thanked the prosecutor. The trial continues in connection with the charges against Quien of communicating with the enemy, and straying other persons.
