(Per United Press Association.) HAWERA, January 27
A fire was discovered at 5.30 this morning in the Manaia District High School. It had a strong hold, and no water supply was available, but the Manaia Fire Brigade ivas able to save some of the material, but otherwise the building and contents were totally destroyed. Luckily there was no wind, and the fire did not spread to the Technical School building, which was separated by only a short space. The cause of the fire is not known. It is remarkable that the Opunake School was burnt about this time last year.
