RAILWAYMEN'S GRIEVANCES

(Per United Press Association.) NAPIER, November 20. At the monthly meeting of the local branch of the Amalgamated Society of Eailway Servants, which was held on Wednesday evening, ■ when there was a very large attendance, the following resolution was passed: “That the Napier branch of the A.S.R.S. earnestly requests our executive to ask the Prime Minister to explain tho reason why the Reform Government voted the large sum, of £340,0-00 of public money as a bonus to nutter producers, when members of the teccc-ad Division find it very hard to exist at ;• e present rate of wages. We urgently demand that the executive immcaiately interview the Minister of Railways for a definite statement regarding the increases of the Second Division, and urgently demand at last 2s 6d a day increase all round; also that the scale of increases to the police force was granted without having been placed before the committee, and why was different treatment meted out to two branches of Government servants?
