CARPENTERS WAGES.
STOP-WORK MEETING' AT WELLINGTON. ... (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, November 21, The carpenters and joiners in the Public Works Department held stop-work meeting yesterday to consider the question of pay. The wages at range from Is 9d per hour to £4 10s per week. The burden of complaint is that while for casual or permanent hands the highest wages paid in the Department is approximately 2s per hour, carpenters and joiners in private employment are receiving 2s 6d. The Minister has promis-' ed to have the matter considered.
