CONFERENCE OF SENIOR OFFICERS

(Per United Prese Association.) WELLINGTON, November 21. The Confeernce of senior officers of the N.Z.E.F. has concluded. It was estimated that £50,000 had been accumhlated from the regimental and canteen funds for dispersal. The conference resolved that from each unit’s funds an amount be retained for the payment of debts, and for the publication of regimental histories, the balance to be placed with the Treasury for investment. The Returned Soldiers’ Association was asked to express an opinion on the disposal' of the canteen funds, some of which should be allocated to scholarships for children of returned soldiers, and* the widows’ and orphans’ fund. It was further decided to form an .Anzac memorial, and that it be combined with Australia and the 29th Indian Brigade; also that a national memorial be erected in Wellington. It was decided to recommend to the Defence Minister that the New Zealand Rifle Brigade be retained as an integral paid; of the Territorial forces.
