A renewal of the militarist domonstration on Monday in expectation of Hindcnburg’s arrival, resulted in disputes between the Nationalists and Independents,. necessitating the military clearing the streets. Troops were posted to .prevent a recurrence. Major Lutwitz, head of a volunteer detachment, with flags flying and bands playing, marched to Hindenburg’s villa. Hindenburg reviewed the troops. Lutwitz was arrested for leading an unauthorised procession. Holfferieh declines to give evidence before the Responsibility Committee, which reaffirmed the fine imposed on his non-appearance, and refused to read Tielffcrich’s protest against the fine.
