MILL WARD AND LANGRIDGE THE FARMERS’ FRIEND. (Published by Special Arrangement.) Millwaid and Langridge have only been established in Wiokseed Place, Wanganui, a short time, but they have made excellent use of their opportunities to become the farmers’ friends, because they are handling the, very things that the selector wants -on his holding to make fife more liveable and the work easier and not So prolonged. The firm has been instrumental in installing on ignite a large number of farms the most up-to-date and labour-saving devices that the human mind can conceive, an achievement responsible for substantially reducing the difference between the conveniences of town and country. For instance, the firm are agents for the Challenge Dairy.- Cleansing Plant. The Challenge Heater, in loss than ten minutes will provide boiling water for sterilising milking-machine, separator, milk or cream cans; in fact all dairy utensils for cowshed or homestead. 'The Challenge Heating .System is recognised as the greatest heater on the market, and once installed there is no lack of hot water. It is simple and economical to use, and nothing better has ever been placed on the marketThe “Fletcher” Milking Machine, which is steadily growing in popularity, is another of the farmers’ friends Millward and Langridge have been responsible for introducing to the local market, and judging by the enooniums received from those who have already installed the “Fletcher” Milking Machine, this manufacture froin the famous Anderson, Limited, engineering works of Christchurch bids fair to become the leading line of milking machines. One of the great and commendable features of the Fletcher Milking Machine is the fact that it is so simply constructed that it can be taken adrift, cleansed, and reassembled without the slightest difficulty. In fact, so simple is the operas tion of taking the machine to pieces that it is .-crrect to say that parts are just 'ifted down frotn their places, washed, and then put back without undoing a single screw or nut. These points will appeal particularly to the dairy "fanner, shed hands, and factory managers. The Fletcher Milking Machine is being exhibited at the Show grounds, and commanded considerable attention from interested dairymen. MTllward and Langridge’s display is .to be seen in one of the rooms in close proximity to the Homo Indutries shed, an c'is well worth the investigation of those engaged in farming or living in the country. The display includes a variety of Anderson’s, Limited, oil engines for every purpose, and whether it be at the Show grounds or at the main stores. Chronicle Buildings. Wicksteed Place. Millward and Langridge can provide ample demonstration of their claims to he regarded as the farmers’ friends.

One of the outstanding features of the firm’s display at the Show grounds is the Lalley Light, which for brilliance and utility has no superior. (. A. YOUNG AND CO. DISPLAY OF AGRICULTURAL • IMPLEMENTS.

In these 'days when production and still greater production is required to meet the growing demands of the country in the matter of food products, xt is - essential that farmers should operate with the best implements that the human mind and engineering skill has devised. It is hero that J. A. Young and Co., machinery experts of Taupo Quay, come in, and farmers anxious for bigger crops and less work to achieve the desired results should not fail to cultivate a closer acquaintance of Mr Young and the agencies his firm represent. It is Mr Young’s usual custom to have a comprehensive display at the Show grounds, and in accordance with that custom, he was, a few weeks ago, assembling a fine collection, when, hey! presto ! he discovered that the demand for the Tnmedihte delivery of implements was so keen and un-putibff-able that he was obliged to let the farmers take the tools and make the lest use of the remaining part of the reason. As a result, the customary display of agricultural machinery at the Show grounds was. not so great; nevertheless to-day he exhibited several manufactures that always commend themselves to agricu'timsts. Thebe was the Nine-Coulter Pennsylvania Grain and Fertiliser Drill, with turnip and rape attachments. The main feature of this plant is the fact that the gear wheels liave been done away with, thus allowing all the quantities to be regulated by •small levers whilst the drill is in motion. This machine is one of the greatest boons any agriculturist ever possessed. Then the exhibition also included fine harrows, ploughs, scuffkrs. and a two-row horse hoe for working turnips and mangolds on ridges. Mr Young is also agent for the famous Blackstone engine,. three, and four horsepower, to arrive, and !}ll are fitted with oiler ring bearings thrbnghont. Among other notable agencies is tbat of the new Storrie Milking Machine, which is fitted with . mechanical pulsators and ilie latest style of releaser. A number of the Storrie Milking Machines have been installed in this district, and are working as satisfactorily and as sweetly as anyone could wish. Mr Young’s agencies are for 5.11 the best established manufactures, hence the keen demand there is for the supplies he is constantly receiving. As fast as they come in they go out, and no better testimony to their, value could be adduced.

S. L. FREEMAN. Although there, was a good natural light ok the Show ’grounds to-day, the display of artificial light produced by Mr S. L. Freeman, Electrician, 40 Ridgway Street, stood out brilliantly as one of the brightest things on the racecourse where the Show is being held. The light is the Delco, whifih is one of the best electric lights in existence, and is indispensable for country stores, homes, halls, and churches. Mr Freeman is willing to undertake the installation of electric light in any household. Already he has to his credit some of the biggest installations of the district, and the expert manner in which all his work is executed, and the satisfaction which accompanies it, gives Mr Freeman a lead that many would be glad to achieve. There is no work of an electrical nature that is not undertaken, and all kinds of electrical equipment are being stockfed in Ridgway Street. If you want expert advice in electrical matters, consult Mr Freeman at once. .

DELCO LIGHT. ELECTRIC LIGHT AND POWER. The Delco Light' exhibition by Levy and Davies, agents for, the Taranaki district cohimanded great interest at the Show ground to-day, and it was generally admitted that the Delco Light is such a brilliant and utility illumination for country homes and factories, that it is receiving the attention from rural dwellers as well as those in town desiring a brilliant and economical light. The Delto Light is giving satisfactory service to over 50,000 users, all of whom are unanimous in their verdict that a more efficient light has not yet been produced to give the same results, namely, brilliancy combined with economy. The Delco Light battery is also being exhibited. This battery has been specially designed for use with. Delco Light, and makes the combination a complete success in every respect. The Delco Light exhibition at the Show grounds should not be missed.

FARMERS’ CO-OPERATIVE OR- ’ GANISATION. FINE DISPLAY OF HUPMOBILES. To the Farmers’ Co-operative Organisation, of Hawera and Wanganui, must be credited the finest display of motor cars on the Show grounds, and, furthermore, the cars are of the Hupmobile latest and modem design. The Hup has no superior on the road to-day, and the fact that Mr J. Ho.dson, of the Pioneer Wanganui-Marton Motor Service, has some of these reliable and trustworthy cars in his fleet, and that one or more are practically on the road every day, to the satisfaction of those desiring to reach the object of their journey, is a sufficient guarantee even without other unquestioned proof of superiority, that the Hupmobile wall always command a leading position in champion honours. The big display at the Show grounds includes three tou?ist cars of the very latest model, and one three-seater, colonial body, and for beauty of design and more classy finish there is nothing better on the market. The Hupmobile claims first place for appearance, for comfort, for performance, for durability, for economy and from an engineering point of view, and these main features are in themselves sufficient to place the Hupmobile up top. It is well known that the rough parts of a complete demonstration usually bring up the question of durability and sturdiness. In this connection nothing is more illuminating than a study of the used ca v market, where the inquirer wall find but' few Hupmobiles listed, and these few, regardless of their age, are always snapped up at premium prices. The great standard of the Hupmobile factories is being well maintained in the newest and latest models, and from whatever point of view the Hup is approached, 'greatest critics will find very little if anything to cavil at. The cars on .the local Show gTounds are perfect models and those contemplating a new car should investigate the claims of the Hupmobile, demonstrations of which are given locally by Simpson and Hardy, of Ridgway Street. It is a noteworthy fact that a' Hupmobile of the present model now ’on view at the Show grounds, won the Brisbane hill-climbing contest recently >■ a nd also gained the fastest time on formula in both private owners and trade sections. The big exhibition is under the control of Mr R; C. Ferguson, of the Hawera motor staff.

MESSRS MARKS AND BOTT’S INDIAN MOTOR-CYCLES AND SIDE-CARS. ATTRACTIVE DISPLAY. This enterprising firm has a most interesting exhibit on the ground of motor-cycles and side-cars, and this was surrounded throughout the day. Prominent in the display are the world-famed Indian motor-cycles, for which the firm are agents. During the Great War, Indian motor-cycles were used in very large quantities by the United States Government and others of the victorious Allies. A great many more than half of all the motor-cycles ordered by the United States Government for war purposes were Indians. Another distinct advantage of the Indian is the Cradle Spring Frame, the only motor-cycle spring system that thoroughly resists and absorbs all road shocks, 'its ability to impart a smooth, velvety riding “give” oyer the roughest riding makes the Indian" what it is to-day—the most comfortable, easy-riding' motor-cycle on the market. / Messrs Marks and Bott have a new and up-to-date plant at their premises, at 199 Victoria Avenue, and employ a large staff of expert mechanics. Their large garage, 500 square feet, is installed with the very latest plant to enable motor-cycles to be fitted and repaired at the very shortest notice. The firm arc to be commended on their enterprise in bringing the very latest in motor-cycle development within the reach of the public of Wanganui* „

ALL-BRITISH STANDARD CAR. INTERESTING EXHIBIT BY MR. C. H. CHAVANNES, Jnr. Britain stands for everything good and stable, and it is a guiding principle among those who want something, particularly in the nature of machinery, to stand the test of time and usage, to patronise the British manufacture. Sellers are quite aware of the favour that is bestowed on British-made goods by the general public, and for that reason they spare no effort to secure British agencies. Mr C. H. Chffvannes junr., of Maria Place, is one of those fortunate motor-car dealers who has been succesful in securing- such an agency, and he represents in this district the celebrated All-British_ Standard car, a mode] of which is being displayed tit the Showgrounds. This is a two-seater touring car, and the fact that it lias already travelled 155,000 miles without the engine showing any signs whatever of wear of tear my bo accepted as a striking testimony of the great superiority of the All-British Standard make. Quite a large number of interested motor authorities inspected the engine at the Showgrounds, and it was the unanimous verdict that despite the exceptionally heavy work it had been called upon to do the parts are as flawless and work as evenly as the day the car was turned out from the factory. Mr Chavannes has _in his possession numerous testimonials from owners of cars he has supplied, testifying* to the wonderful reliability and lasting qualities of the Standard. One owner had travelled 80,000 miles ■without requiring overhaul of the engine, and another 75,000 miles. Mr Chavannes has received advice that - a consignment of Standard cars will reach him in about six weeks’ time, and all requiring a thoroughly reliable car should take the opportunity of booking their orders early, as there is a strong demand for British-made cars at present, and particularly for the All-British-mado Standard.
