The Secretary for Labour, Mr Wilson, addressing a conference to deal with the coal miners’ situation, declared that the Miners’ demands for a six-hour day aud a five-day week, with a sixty per cent, increase in wages, were impossible and added that the industrial life of the country could not continue if work were limited to thirty hours weekly.
