MOTOR CARS COLLIDE.

ELDERLY LADY INJURED. The corner of Dublin Street and Campbell Street was the scene of a motor-car collision this morning, wherein an elderly lady, Mrs N. P. Manson, of St. John’s Hill, received serious injuries. Mr and Mrs Manson were driving in a car along Campbell Street towards town, and were crossing the intersection of Dublin Street, when a car, coming from the Avenue along Dublin. Street, driven by L. R. Vincent, and containing a passenger, F. G. Vincent, of Levin, collided with the rear portion of the crossing car. Mr Manson’s car was dragged a distance of between 24ft and 34ft. Mrs Manson was picked up from underneath the fore part of the car, and it was seen at once that she had sustained serious injuries. Dr. Wall was sent for and immediately removed her to Belverdalo Hospital, where her injuries were attended to. No other person was injured, although Mr Manson sustained some cuts about his hands. , The back portion of Mr Manson n car was damaged, including the back wheel; the front portion also sustained. considerable damage. The springs of Mr Vincent’s car sustained some damage. . . Both cars were travelling on therr respective proper sides of the road. Mr Manson’s car was forced on to the right-hand side of the road, nearly on to the verandah of the shop_on the corner, the rear of the car facing the shop, while the other car was brought to a standstill facing the same side, head on to the footpath.
