BRAINS IN THE RING.
CAJIPENTIER’S METHODS. FIGHTING PHANTOM BECKETT. LONDON, November 1. Georges Carpentier, heavy-weight champion of France, facetiously discussing the prospects of his coming maltch, says that he fights an imaginary Beckett each day while training. He has thoroughly studied and analysed the big man’s physiology from every viewpoint, “Now I am as fit as I will ever be and am ready for the fray,” says Caxpentier. “Beckett is much heavier, and perhaps stronger, but sheer strength will nob decide the contest. Brains will participate largely, and I have a notion that in this battle I will hold my own. “We are fighting for the biggest sum staked for years, and the victor will cary roll a substantial fortune.”
