SUPREME COURT.
WELLINGTON SITTINGS. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, November 11. At the Supreme Court in the case Thomas Steele Duncan, charged with having to obtain goods by means of false pretences, the jury returned a verdict of not guilty. Herbert Maloney was found guilty of obtaining whisky by a false pretence, but was recommended to clemency because of the laxity of -the business me bhods of the merchants concerned. He was remanded for sentence. AUCKLAND SITTINGS. AUCKLAND, November 11. At the Supreme Court to-day, the decision of the Grand Jury yesterday in finding a true bill in respect to one charge of murder against Walter Ashby, was altered, and no bill was returned. As the Grand Jury thus threw out two charges against Ashby, he was discharged. Norman Selwyn Connelly, on four charges of theft, was sentenced to reformative treatment for a term not exceeding three years.
