AMUSEMENTS & MEETINGS.

“MILESTONES” AT . HIS MAJESTY’S TO-NIGHT. The three-night season for the above attraction will' commence at His Majesty’s Theatre to-night. The picture is screened from the play by Arnold Bennett, and is earned out with -such fidelity to types and periods that it is worthy of- a place among the records of the periods. Three generations are covered and through the. three the love stories of the principals are woven. The story is symbolical of the progress of the times, and shows that nothing can stay progress, even in the face of bigoted and obstinate opposition. Contrast is drawn between the man who desires improvement and the man who is satisfied to crawl along, the rut excavated for him hy his forefathers. Particular interest is provided in the appearance of the earliest types of motor cars, bicycles, telephones, typewriters, and the/fashions of the different periods will be recognised as perfect reproductions of all whose memory carries them back to 1860 and thereafter. The reserve plan at Upton’s is rapidly filling.

P.P.A. Members and friends arc reminded, of the social evening of the Wanganui North Group in St. Andrew’s Church to-morrow night, at 7.45. A musical programme will be submitted, and a good evening is looked forward to. Ladies are asked to bring a basket. CHAPLAIN BLADIN’S LECTURE TONIGHT. Large congregations gathered at. the Salvation Army Citadel yesterday, when special services were conducted by Chaplain Bladin. At both services special reference was made to the Peace whicli had been signed. To-night, at 8 o’clock. Chaplain Bladin will give his very popular lecture, entitled “With the Boys from the Camp to the Firing Line.” This lecture has drawn great crowds in other parts and no doubt a big audience will gather to hear Chaplain Bladin’s personal experiences with tile Boys.
