MANAWATU TOURNAMENT. WON-BY KIA TO A (WANGANUI), Tuesday was a red-letter day in Feilding, where the above tourney was held, fully 200 players participating in the ladies’ and men’s competitions. Teams from Palmerston North, Otaki, Feilding, Wanganui, Mar ton, Taihape and other centres provided some really fine exposition of hockey, and the spectators which numbered over 2000 were delighted with the fine days sport. Hockey is certainly forging ahead by leaps and bounds, and tournaments such as this will always help the game in the front rank for popularity. Ihe ladies' competition was won by Taihape, who proved much superior to the other teams. The men’s competition evinced great interest and the specs vaors were moved to a high state of e'lthnsivm. Wanga nui was represented by three clubs—Kia Toe, Hinerooaj and Phoenix, who all won games and qualified for the semifinal. Palmerston snd Km. Toa (Wanganui) -eing unbeaten fought out the final. Beth sides had their share of supporters and the excitement was intense. The combination play of Kia Toa proved too good for their opponents, and after a fast game, Kia Toa fi-ft the field winners by two goals to one, amidst great enthusiasm. At the conclusion the Mayor presented the .Challenge Cup and medals, and congratulated the winning teams.
