FOOTBALL.

EUGBY HOUGH. DISQUALIFIED FOE LIFE. At a meeting of the Manawatu Eughy Union on Monday night it was reported that a Huia junior player named Healey had assaulted the referee, Mr J. E. Hardic, and had used vile language to him. Mr Bardie had retaliated to some purpose. It was pointed out that the Huia players had made no attempt to protect the referee. It decided to disqualify Healey for life, and warn him off all the grounds of the Union, and to write to the club pointing out that their players had been previous offenders and warning them that if anything further of the kind happned, the Union would consider their position in the competition. As the offence was flagrant and the evidence as to the obscene language in a public place complete, it will lie interesting to.see if the police will interest themeelwes in this matter.
