NURSES NEEDED RELIEFS REQUIRED. A PRESSING CALL. A serious position is arising in regard to the staffs at the hospitals. The present staffs have been doing splendid service, working at high pressure for long hours. The human frame is not a machine and cannot long stand such a strain, hence it is absolutely imperative that the staffs should be reinforced, so that the much-needed rest can be given. Already some of the hospitals working short-handed, and in others many of the staff are down with influenza and need nursing and attention themselves. Thus the call comes with double force to all, be they men or women, who have had any experience of nursing and ambulance work. Messrs F. P. Talboys and D. McFarlane yesterday wera» able, by a personal canvass, to obtain some assistans, six of the teachers from the Girl?’ College volunteering for duty. T’hcy were again canvassing to-day. Those who are willing to assist should band in their names at once to those gentlemen or to Mr Hope Gibbons, or at the Red Cross shop. The need is urgent, for there is much work and few to do it, and it is the duty of the strong to help and protect the weak.
