WILSON’S PARTY APPARENTLY DEFEATED

Received November 8, 10.55 a.m. WASHINGTON, November 7. The elections have been bold for the House of Representatives all over the country and in a limited number of States for the Senate. The Republicans claim a majority in tho House and Senate, but the Democrats also claim a majority. Returns, which are incomplete, indicate that the House will contain 231 Republicans and 195 Democrats, and the Senate 49 Republicans and 47 .Democrats, two being doubtful. These figpres may be altered by later returns. President Wilson is particularly anxious for a majority in the Senate, as that is the treaty-making body.

PRESIDENT WILSON MAY ATTEND PEACE CONFERENCE Australian and N.Z. Cable Association NEW YORK, November 6. The New York Tribune’s Washington correspondent says it is considered increasingly likely that President Wilsonmay attend the Peace Conference abroad. A precedent for tho President leaving the country was set by President Taft, who made a trip to Panama during his Presidency. It is probable President Wilson will represent the United States, and other Americana who may attend the Conference are Mr Morgen than. Colonel House, and Supreme Court Judge Brandeis.
