A RECORD YEAR.

POST OFFICE SAVINGS BANK. DEPOSITS AND WITHDRAWALS. The Post Office Savings Bank figures for the vear 1916 constitute a new record for* New Zealand. The figures show that the deposits during 1916 were nearly £2,000.000 m excess of what they "were in the pervious year, whilst the withdrawals were over one and a half millions greater last year than in 1915. The amount of business represented in the number of transac tions also constitutes a new record. To indicate clearly the big jumps that have been made in Savings Bank returns, the figures for three years are given, viz., 1916, 1915, and 1913 (the last year that was altogether free from the influences of war conditions).
