Y.M.C.A. NOTES.

ENTERTAINING THE SOLDIERS. On Sunday last the ladies auxiliary of the Y.M.C.a.. entertained the soldiers from the camp on the racecourse to tea in the Association building. Some 300 men sat down to the well-laden tables, the large gymnasium being filled to overflowing. Mr John Jones gave an appropriate address to hhc men, exhorting them to live like men. The function closed with a song service. During the past week the Y.M.C.A. lias had a strenuous time in the Territorial camp looking after the physical, spiritual, and moral welfare of the men

. A huge marquee has been in constant use, and the canteen, run by the Y.M.C.A. with a honary staff of public and business men, was thoroughly appreciated by t«he men. The goods were sold at bedrock prices, the whole idea being to give the men every service, profit-mak-ing being a last consideration. This fact caused pleasing comment amongst the officers and men in camp. The casual camp, which will be held next week,"will also be served by the Y.M.C.A., and canteen privileges also given at the close of camp. A complete, statement will be handed to the Camp Commandant, Colonel Hughes, who, it is understood, will pay all profits to the Patriotic Association to be forwarded to Major Cuuningham for the com fort of the old 7th Regiment men in France.

On Tuesday night next the ladies' gymnasium (lass to be held this winter at t<he Y.M.C.A.. will commence its first term. Mr J. Galloway, a past master in the art of physical culture, has kindly consented to act as instructor, and quite a number of ladies have already expressed their desire to join the class. The secretary of the Y.M.C.A. wishes io thank Messrs C. TI. Davis and Co. for kindly installing the Mooro light in their marquee at the recent camp. The light was greatly appreciated.
