FURTHER BRITISH PROGRESS.

(High Commißßioner's Cable.) Received April I' 3, 10.0 a.m. LONDON, April 12. Sir Douglas Haig reports that the weather continues wet and stormy. Early this morning we captured two important positions in the enemy's lines northwards of Vimy Ridge and astride the river at Souchez. A number were prisonered. During the night twb hostile attacks on our new positions at the northern end'of Vimy Ridge were driven off by machine-gun fire, with heavy German la«ses. French official.—Southwards of the Oise, after artillery action, we attacked 'eastwards of the line Coucy-la-Ville to Quincy-Basse. After a lively combat the enemy was driven as far as the borders of the southwest part of the high forest of Coucy. Several important points d'appui in this field fell into our hands, despite enemy resistance. Numerous German dead were left on the ground, and some prisoners were brought in. French communique.—The artillery struggle continued fairly violent during the night between the Somme and the Oise, notably in the region of Urvillers. / Our reconnaissances penetrated the German lines at several points north of the Aisne.
