Mr E. H. Nicholas (brother of Mitf F. Webb-Jones), until recently organist at Pitt Street Methodist Church, 'Auckland, and who left New Zealand to reside in Australia, has so ranch improved! in health that he has been able to ac-» cept the position of organist and choirmaster at Wesley Chnrch, Melbourne, the principal Methodist Church in Vic* toria.
The Rev. T. G. Hammond, who has been appointed general superintendent of the Methodist Maori Missions, was farew T elled at Hawera on Thursday night. The meeting-hall was packed* The Mayor (Mr E, Dixon) presided; Complimentary speeches were made by the Rev. E. 0. Blamires, Rev. Mr Haddon (Maori Missionary), Mr L. A. Bon© (Hawera Presbyterian Church), Rev R» B. Tinsley (Stratford), and Mr M. Jj Lynskey (president of the Hawera Chamber of Commerce). The Mayor presented Mr HaJHoroond with an illuminated address, setting forth the value of his services to Taranaki and the esteem in whie*i he was everywhere held, and a purse containing a cheque for £IOO.
