The Petit Parisien interviewed Loni Robert Cecil, who said:—“lt cannot ba denied that our losses of merchantmen are serious but it is no exaggeration ta say they are considerably below whan the Germans anticipated. It Ought nos to be forgotten that, while we taly about the victims of Teuton piracy* we say nothing about the pirate® 5 own losses.” The Admiralty had authorised him to say that between February 21*q and April Ist there had been 49 figfetf between British vessels and Germ ail pirates.
