ENEMY’S HEAVY LOSSES. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association LONDON, April 8. Sir Douglas Haig reports;—We carried the village of Lempire, northward of S- Quentin (north of Rossney and north-east of Bpehy.) We riirther progressed north-east of Norqnil. The enemy’s severe losses outing the past week between St, Quentin and Arras arc evidenced by the large numbers of dead found in many localities. Our aeroplanes, by making long raids bombed important railway junctions, munition depots and aerodromes., WORK OF THE HUNS. LONDON. April 8. Several orders were found on prisoners during the Bapaume retreat ordering the blowing up of houses, cellars and churches, and the pollution of wells by preosote and dung.
