ENEMY EFFORTS CHECKED WITH GREAT LOSS. (Times.) LONDON, January 29. The Times’ correspondent at the Roumanian headquarters, telegraphing on the 24th inst., says stalemate has been reached. The enemy’s efforts during a fortnight have been checked with great losses. The line of the TrotnsSereth proved impregnable. Many Gorman divisions have been withdrawn. Only four or five remain. Others have been replaced by Turks and Austrians. The roughest weather prevents operations on a large scale. German prisoners statq that they were unprepared for a winter campaign, and many are freezing. . Leading Roumanian generals state that re-organisation has aldready advanced.
