THE ENEMY BEATEN BACK.

(Admiralty, per Wifeless.) LONDON, January 28; Roumanian official: Despite snow, we attacked and repulsed the enemy southward of the valleys of Cashin and Sushitza, after eleven hours’ desperate fighting.

THE SITUATION IMPROVING-

RUSSIANS BREAKING ENEMY ATTACKS.

LONDON, January 28. Experts describe the situation on the Damilbe Delta as satisfactory. The Russians are defending Sufina Canal, which is tljp. chief mouth of the Danube in order to conserve navigation by the river to Ismail. The front then, generally follows the Sereth, then the right bank of the Trotus as far as Okna. Thence it bends north-west to rejoin the Austro-Roumanian fronrigr. The enemy have vainly attempted for days to force a passage of the Sereth, be•tiveen Pocsani and Galatz, in order to push the left tying along the Trotus, but the Russians are breaking the attacks while awaiting the resumption of their own offensive. v PARIS, January 28.
