SOLDIERS USE MACHINE . GUNS. , (Australian-and N.Z, Cable Received January 27, 11.0 a.m. PBTROGRAD, January 26. Packs of hungry wolves infest the Polesie front. Soldiers are beating them off with machine-guns. In some cases the Germans joined the Russians in fighting the wolves. Recently the Russians and Germans suspended a hot encounter, organised a joint hunt, and drove off the wolves. They afterwards returned to their trenches. There was no treachery. «
