PRINCES’ QUARREL

After the capture of the triangle of Gorman defences in Artois by the French, Prince RuppreclP made repeated and urgent requests for reinforcements of men and artillery. Ibo rrinforcements sent to Artois were quite inadequate, but meanwhile the German (■'"own Prince received important new effectives in tho share of highly-trained troops and heavy and field artillery. In addition, a regiment of Landstnrm troops, intended for Prince Rupprecbt, was deflected to the Argonne. Prince Rupprecbt made strong representations to Berlin, and despatches, not altogether cordial in tone, pa.ssed between the two Princes, who formerly were cn most intimate i-rms, Prince Rupprecbt even went so far as to ask to he relieved of his command, but finally, he was appeased by a mark of Imperial favour, conveyed hy a social messenger. It is, however, considered probable that be may be given a command elsewhere.
