The Military Hospital Guild rooms were the centre of activity yesterday afternoon, when a large number of ladies worked rtoadily from 2 p.m. till fi p.m., the result being very satisfactory. At a meetin it of the Committee, it was decided to hold a display of the work before parking the case to be sent early next month to our wounded New Zealanders in Egvnt. The date fixed is Wednesday, November 3rd. when it Ls intended to have a flower, sweet, home-made cakes, and a produce stall. For the latter two lambs have already been promised. Afternoon tea will bo served. Contributions will be acceptable to any of the stalls, the proceeds of which are to assist the Guild to keep no tho good work being done for our wounded. The usual weekly sewing hep will bo held to-morrow from 1 p.m. till 5 p.m.

Tile total proceeds of the St. John Ambulance "Flower Day" for the Red Cross fund amounted to £9O 8s ,jjd, which is very satisfactoiy, considering the numerous calls which have been made on tho townspeople's purses of late. Through the efforts ef Mesdames Jefcoate and Lomas the tea rooms realised £l3 10s fid. sLsdames Doig and Glasgow, with their baud ef workers, were re-ponsible for tho s"m of £ll2 10s fid. The rest ef the money, some .£64 7s 9}d, was the net icadt of sale of flowers from the main d'-p't. The society wisli to thank all who sent in donations of cake and flower’s, and ell who assisted in any way to make the day so successful. To Messrs Ja<=, Thain and Co. and 51, Spnrdle the thanks of the Society ere due for the use of boiler and flower basins respectively, and to Messrs Power and MoTub’s for the use of trays. Miss Mainland gave great n-sistance with the arranging of the flowers. Messrs Lain), Rasmussen, and J. T. Sinclair gave beautiful flowers, and the Brunswick School children also sept in a large quantity. The chairs and Hides were procured from Messrs Purser and Son. sfrs D. Craig gave the lady superintendent a very beautiful old ling to sell for the funds. slr T. C. Webb, conductor cf tho "Messiah,” desires to thank all those who have assiduously assisted in tho rendering of tho work, to tho members of tho chorus for tho time and attention they gave during the past three months, and to those members of tho orchestra who so largely assisted in its success. Special thanks are duo to tho soloists, sladatne Briggs, Mrs Ivo Symes, Mr Sydney Butler, and Mr L. Craig, for their assistance, also to Mrs Redwood for presiding at tho organ, and to Lieutenant Buckley for his trumpet rolo. Its financial success has raeen materially assisted by the kindly help of Mr Meuli in erecting the chorus orchestra free of cost; Messrs A. D. Willis for tickets; Mr T. E. Thomas for decorations: and the Opera House staff for their free services, Mr J. Upton for free use of the organ, Dexter’s, Ltd., for chairs, the authorities of the Technical Gollegc for the important and valuable help in allowing the use of their hall for practising purposes, and to 51 r A. C. Philpot for the valuable help and assistance he hae rendered, both at the practices and at tho performance. Owing to all tickets not being returned yet. a full statement of accounts is not immediately available, but slr Webb hopes to issue the same in a few days.
