Last mpnth the body of a fisherman named William Purcell was found in the Camdenhaven River loped to an anchor. There were indications of 111-treatment. The deceased’s mate, Janies Piper, has been committed for trial on a charge of murder. The evidence showed that at the end of August some neighbours heard quarrelling in Piper’s shed. Purcell was not again seen, and Piper explained that he uad left the district.
