TAUMARUNUI. MR. JENNINGS’ PROGRESS. , (By Telegraph.—Special to Hbeald.V " OTOROHANGA, November 28. The Kawhia portion of the Taumarunui electorate was visited by Mr Jennings, Liberal candidate, during the past week. At AVaitr.ngaru, Putaki, and Hangitika votes of thanks and confidence in the candidate v. ere carried with enthusiasm. At Otorohanga, last night, the hall was packed, many beim* unable to get in. The candidate received an''enthusiastic hearing, a vote of thanks and confidence defeating an adverse amendment overwhelmingly. / OTAK!. OTAKI, November 28. Last night, in the Century Hall, Mr AY. H. Field, Government candidate for. Otaki, addressed a crowded meeting, and had a good hearing, though there was some interruption. Speaking in favour of the Massey programme, he said it was a moderate and Liberal one. The Massey Government had done well and, redeemed a number of pledges in spite of difficulties. He ,defended its action m connection with the strike. He was in favour of nationalisation of the hospitals, did not favour local option, and supported the 55 per cent majority in national prohibition. A vote of thanks was carried, the candidate declining a vote' of confidence. The meeting closed with cheers, and counter cheers for Mr Robertson.
