By 28 votes to 1(1 the Chamber of Commerce and Local Bodies’ Uonforoneo passed a resolution moved by Air Hichards, of the Horowhcuua County Oouucil, requesting the Government to make provision for the construction of the Levin tn Creatford railway. In reply to a question, Mr Richards said the effect of the now lino would be to cut Palmerston and hVildiug out of the Main Trued-: system, but ail the lost of New Zealand would benefit. Mr Armstrong, of Palmerston North, strongly opposed the propose’. Mr Oart!i"ov, of Let in. ciiiicised Palmerston far being parochial.
