Power ransacked tho house in sea re!i of a bag of gold dust, widen, with another bag containing £OOO, Airs T.ovidge bid. The bushranger twice severely beat tho defenceless woman with a gun barrel for refusing to disclose tho hiding place, and thrice fired tho house. The deceased put out the fire. Eventually Power, after securing only £2 in money and £2O in chorines, lied, leaving his victim on the door.
