TONGARIRO PARK.

DEPUTATION TO THE PREMIER, (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, July 9. A deputation representing the New Zealand Institute and others interested in the establishment and maintenance of national reserves, asked the Premier to-day to consider the advisability of defining, and, to some extent extending, tho boundaries of Tongariro National Park. The deputation explained that they did not ask for one acre, of land that could be used for farming, forest, or milling purposes. They simply desired to improve the scenic features of the reserve.

The Premier, in reply, said the Government had decided to improve the park. A board had been in existence for many years, but ho did not know that anything had been done by the board. The Government proposed to include in tho board several gentlemen who would take an interest in the preservation of our scenery, and take an interest in the development of Tnngariro Park. The members! would bo representatives from Auckland and 'Wellington provinces.
