MORE BED TAPEISM.
A SUFFERER REFUSED ADMISSION
TO HOSPITAL,
BELONGED TO ANOTHER DISTRICT. (Per United Press Association.! CHRISTCHURCH, May 8. . Considerable indignation is expressed here concerning the case of a fireman on the steamship Maori, named Harry. Ho was sent ashore sick, and was examined hy the medical officer at Lyttelton and sent on to the Christchurch Hospital. There it was ascertained that ho belonged to Wellington, and tho authorities told him to return. The medical superintendent of the hospital says it is tho rule for each district to treat its own cases, and Barry had ample time to catch the ferry steamer. The doctor who examined him, on the other hand, says that if Barry had travelled he would certainly constitute a danger to the other passengers, seeing that'he is suffering from advanced consumption. Barry spent Tuesday night on tho wharves, but arrangements were made yesterday for bis accommodation jky Mr Hilton.
