CHRISTIAN CONVENTION

Tim meetings of the Christian Convention were continued yesterday evening in St. Paul’s Ball. The Eev. J. D. McKeunied the chair. The attendance was'much larger than on the previous evening. The speaker, the Rev. E. J. McFarland, chose a iesson referring to the classical Old Testament instance of friendship, that of David and Jonathan. Continuing in his exposition of the First Epistle of John, he dwelt upon the great disparity between the august nature of God and the meanness of man’s nature, and the wonder that friendship in the truest and fullest sense could exist between God and man. True friendship with God invariably produced friendship) between man and man. This was what the world needed in domestic, commercial, social, and civic life. The transparent earnestness of the gracious appeal for holy living was manifestly effective. The Convention continues tomorrow, which) as the speaker announced, will bo “Love Day.” The addresses, both afternoon and evening will deal with that topic.
